Grameen Jano Unnayan Sangstha (GJUS) has been honored with the 'Dairy Icon 2023' award by Bangladesh's Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.This recognition was presented during the World Milk Day 2024 celebration, held at the Krishibid Institution Auditorium in Dhaka.The event emphasized the theme "Milk is essential for global nutrition" and was organized with support from the Bangladesh government and the World Bank.GJUS, a private voluntary organization established in 1998, has been instrumental in the development of coastal areas in southern Bangladesh.Our initiatives have significantly contributed to the dairy sector, aligning with the government's objectives to enhance milk production and meet the country's nutritional needs.The award ceremony was graced by Fisheries and Livestock Minister Md. Abdur Rahman, who presented the accolade to GJUS representatives. The event was chaired by Dr. Mohammad Reajul Huq, Director General of the Department of Livestock Services, and attended by Sayeed Mohamood Belal Haider, Secretary of the Ministry of Livestock.This recognition underscores GJUS's commitment to improving the livelihoods of coastal communities through sustainable dairy farming practices.Our efforts serve as a model for integrating agriculture and community development in Bangladesh's coastal regions.
